The Habeck Oaks COA (16 mi2) is located directly east of Falls City, extending northeast toward the edge of Dallas.  This area is primarily privately-owned mixed farmland and forest located north of the Little Luckiamute River.  This COA is adjacent to the McTimmons Valley – Airlie Savanna COA.

General

  • This area contains large tracts of critical oak woodland habitat.
  • Important habitat for oak-associated species including birds, mammals, and plants is present within this COA.
  • is both very urban and agricultural.  As such, this area faces threats from municipal, road, and farming runoff.  Despite this, the area still provides important habitat refugia for many fish and wildlife species in the area.
  • This area faces threats from increased development on existing critical habitat properties.  Given that nearly all of this COA is privately-owned, this makes partnerships and relationships with landowners especially important.
